Way of the Dragon, Bruce Lee CG Model WIP

November 30, 2011 by Marten Go | 0 comments

For the past week, I’ve been attempting to build a CG Bruce Lee.

Here’s the first test render. You can see, there’s still much to do on the arms, hands, back, pants, etc… Eventually I’ll paint his head for close ups, but my intention is to keep Bruce at a distance to see his full body in action for now.

Smart Vending Machines

Artificiality via surface 3D display is coming in ubiquitous fashion. Window shopping will have a complete facelift. I’m talking about models flaunting the latest line of clothing; kitchenware and gadgets that promote interactive touch screen demonstrations.

Going shopping will be an assault on your eyes. Local environments will literally come to life by way of surface ‘anything’ displays and animation.

Humanoid Robots

October 22, 2011 by Marten Go | 0 comments

In the near future, ultra-realistic humanoid robots will be integrated into society through the healthcare industry.

I touched on this a few posts ago, and will provide more analysis and foresight. As society accepts their ubiquitous presence, one might have an extreme view of humanoids being more human than human–philosophically that is, because

humanoid robots will be programmed to have morals, principles and integrity, which are essential to earn society’s trust and acceptance.

Anything short of that should not be deemed ‘humanoid’.  Just think for a few seconds about human civilization around the world. How many millions or billions of people even know what are morals and principles, let alone integrity.

Anyhow, the purpose of a humanoid robot is very simple to sum up: serve as an extension to humans in alleviating daily, mundane routines to raise and extend the quality of life. And of course, be an unconditional pillar of support for our emotional needs.

To me, that seems logical.

So in theory, robots shouldn’t discriminate, hate or love, right? Right. Because they won’t have egos. Rather, they’d be neutral, and only appear to be emotionally attached to humans–just as domesticated cats.

To ensure this theory has any legs, programmers of humanoid brains would need to be scrutinized, and their coding process–transparent and open source.

Establishing a humanoid ethics law beforehand would be necessary, I think. Violation of this law shall not be tolerated.

OmniTouch Video Demo

October 22, 2011 by Marten Go | 0 comments

Make any surface a Multi-Touch Interactive Screen? Yes, with the OmniTouch!

It’s a depth-sensing projection system that mounts to the shoulder and operates similarly to Microsoft’s Kinect. Go watch the video demonstration before reading my idea for its immediate use (by 2013)?

Welcome back. So, the near future goal for developers would be, in my opinion: scaling down the projection system to be mounted to the side of, say… smartphone? or on the front of a LCD display?

This way, a standard size qwerty keypad or touchpad is projected from the OmniTouch enabled device onto any surface. Even on your own lap.

And imagining further into the future, OmniTouch is mounted to personal accessories such as watches, rings or glasses, equipped with multiple projectors and superior resolution, computing power and telecommunications.

Then, there won’t be a need to carry smartphones…  oh, how did I forget OmniTouch integrated clothing?

Panasonic Hair-Washing Robot – 2010

Replacing human care-givers in Japan and inevitably, the world’s equally is the coming future for mankind.

As human robotic engineering continues to advance, more and more mundane, ordinary routines will be eliminated to free ourselves to enjoy our precious and dwindling time. Isn’t that what we’re all after? Time?

Anyhow, this is just another step in the right direction.

“Using robotic hand technology and 24 robotic fingers, this robot can wash the hair or handicapped in the way human hands do in order to help them have better daily lives,” said developer Tohru Nakamura.

Bruce Lee: Preserved Dragon

Episode Three of the In Too Deep Series features Bruce Lee in: Preserved Dragon.

The mystery of Bruce Lee’s death has always intrigued me.

More so now, because of the unlimited resources and information available on the internet. Instead of kowtowing to the official story of his death, we’re now able to be our own Sherlock Holmes to dig and sniff out a more plausible account.

We’ve all heard of the many theories out there with the conspiratorial angle.
Who’s to say, there’s no truth to any of them, umm, except for the Bruce Lee is still alive theory, of course. That one was debunked the moment Bruce’s casket was open for the world to see.

So how did Bruce die?

And after a few months of research, what did I discover?
Well, I won’t spoil it here in writing. I’ve woven together a story with all the classic theories, and characters we’ve all come to know by their first names.

The purpose of Episode Three, is to attempt to show Bruce Lee’s final moments and the motives behind the people closest to him.

So no kowtowing from me, and hoping not from you too. And without further ado, here’s Bruce Lee in Episode Three: Preserved Dragon by Marten Go.
